Radio Alegria 100.1 and AM 1240 and our community partners (Jersey Mike’s, Maria Mia’s Tex-Mex Cantina, Another Broken Egg and Postal Plus) want to remind our listeners that October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and how important it is to be screened annually – because you can’t cure it if you don’t know about it. We have partnered with The Rose Center for Breast Health Excellence. The Rose is a non-profit Houston-based breast health center that serves over 43 counties in southeast Texas.
Since its launch in 1986, The Rose has served nearly one million patients and is now the leading nonprofit breast health care organization in southeast Texas. Their board-certified radiologists, specialized technical staff, five mobile Mammography Coaches, and Diagnostic Imaging Centers give access to treatment to more than 40,000 insured, uninsured and underserved women annually. We want to help to bring The Rose’s breast cancer screening services, education, and outreach to the Brazos Valley. They partner with local clinics, businesses, churches, and organizations to host mobile mammogram events and are in-network with most insurance plans and have sponsorships for patients who are uninsured and low-income to receive their mammogram at no cost. Plus, they also have a low-cost self-pay option.
Radio Alegria 100.1 and AM 1240 will be hosting radio remotes at sponsor locations to raise awareness and fundraise for The Rose, where there will be someone from The Rose to answer questions and discuss booking mammograms on site during the remotes. Below are the details of each partners specific fundraising as well as when we will be onsite. Please join us in fighting this battle that touches everyone at some point and time in their life whether it is you personally, your grandmother, mother, sister, daughter or friend. The key to success in fighting this horrible disease is catching early.
