Royce Hickman, a local business expert, notes the grand opening of businesses reflects and sends a key message to the community, in a recent interview with KBTX. “We’ve made it as best we can a very business-friendly community. So, someone who’s interested in getting into business for themselves and making an investment in the community and creating jobs, we’re there to help them,” said Hickman.
One of those businesses is The Little Gym, a place for children to get active. “The Little Gym is non-competitive gymnastics. We start kids out from four months, as early as four months old, and go until they turn 12,” owner Nathan Barrett explained. For Barrett, it’s a fantastic way to enrich the community as well. “I was born and raised here in Bryan-College Station. I have a lot of deep ties to the community. We want to be a safe spot for kids to come in, in just a really safe and loving environment,” he noted.
Bryan-College Station and its surrounding areas have a focus on education and healthcare, but a strong small business network strives to provide a more balanced economy. “Most of our businesses are small businesses, and I think the fact that we’re a growing community provides opportunities for people that are looking to get into business,” Hickman added.
As for grand re-openings, KinderHill Brew Lab provided an update on its plans to move into a new location. The KinderHill Brew Lab has been closed since this spring, with its new location on 31 st street to open in early 2025. The brewery announced on social media that The Wild Garlic, which served pizza at the original KinderHill location, will not be joining them in this new phase of their business.
KinderHill will instead be selling the first Detroit-style pizza in the area.
