Dulce Carolina “Mananas” 6AM-11AM-“Radio Alegria”

Carolyn Benavides, KTAM AM-FM Program Director today announced that KTAM 1240 known as Radio Alegria is now simulcasting the popular Regional Mexican format and entertainment programming on the FM radio band at 100.1 FM. Dulce Carolina has been a guiding force and creative spirit behind Radio Alegria since it’s inception over 20 years ago.

Carolyn is a third-generation resident of Bryan-College Station. Her family owns and operates a successful family style Mexican food restaurant “Casa Rodriguez” founded in 1978. The Sweet C morning show is a mix of popular Regional Mexican music, birthdays, trivia, and phone calls with the local Hispanic community. KTAM-Radio Alegria is the only local Spanish language radio station in the Bryan-College Station metropolitan area serving over 45,000 of Hispanic heritage.

Radio Alegria serves as a vital resource for Spanish speaking residents for news and information as well as a musical link to their roots in Mexico. The Bryan-College Station, Texas population is 25% Hispanic with 50% of these individuals Spanish Language Dominant, and growing along with increasing Hispanic diversity at Texas A&M University.

Radio Alegria has several features known throughout the Brazos Valley including the daily “La Pulga” trade radio feature which is one of the single highest rated hours of radio listening in the entire market, drawing Hispanics and general market listeners.

Radio Alegria has been a finalist in Radio Ink’s “Medallas de Cortez” Hispanic Radio Awards as “Station of The Year”, “Personality of The Year” (“Sweet C” Morning Show), and legendary Midday Personality, Greg Rodriguez won “Personality of The Year” in 2008.

Radio Alegria is responsible for developing large annual community events like Dia Del Nino and Fiestas Patrias.
